Who?
You?
Not you!
You say, "Lord, Not me!"
Well then if not you, who?
Then who will it be?
Who will go and share the glorious gospel to the lost?
Who will go and love the loveless and societies rejected regardless of the cost?
Pay the price, sacrifice to do what must be done?
To point people to salvation full and free,
Through faith in God's own beloved son,
Jesus Christ, Son of God And Son of Man,
Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the sacrificial lamb,
Slain for the redemption of sinful man,
Ordained by the Father before time began.
Who?
Not You?
"Maybe them," you say
Yes Lord, that's a good idea, please send THEM today.
Others, my sisters and my brothers to go to the lost and dying in their sin,
Cause them to open their hearts, lives and homes to let them enter in,
After all Lord, it's hard and gets messy and even painful to go,
What bad might happen one can never know.
It will surely cost me my time, maybe my money and even my life.
To go and share the gospel with the lost,
And I am not prepared to pay the price, I've counted the cost,
And it is too much for me so I will not go,
But Lord do send them so that the lost will know,
That Jesus died for their sin and loves them so.
As for me, rest assured, something I will do,
On their behalf I will pray to you,
And throw a little more than a dollars few,
in the offering plate for the poor next Lord's day,
What?
"That's not enough" Lord?
Is that what I hear you say?
You want more?
You want me?
Lord, you want all of me to be willing to go to all of them...and willingly obey?
No, sorry Lord,
No say I,
What you ask I can not and will not do,
Someone else must go to the lost and tell them about you.
What?
Lord, what is that you say?
No, surely it cannot be,
That you are now rejecting ME,
And sending me from your presence, forever far away,
I should be able to enter your Kingdom on this day,
to spend with you all of eternity
In your presence glorious and divine,
After all I did for you with this life of mine.
I faithfully went to church each Lord's day
And many good things in your name I did I'd have to say.
So even though you and your will I did not obey,
And do the hard things you asked me to do each and every day,
Such as take up my cross daily and follow you,
I still did many good works in your name for others and for you too.
Okay.
I hear you Lord,
I've condemned myself to Hell,
Rather than to enjoy Heaven’s sweet reward,
So away from your presence and Heaven now I must go,
To eternal torment and fire in the Lake of Fire below,
It's my own fault,
Yes Lord, I'm the one to blame,
And It's all because I chose to not fully follow and obey you,
and render the honor due your name.
You!
Me!
It is too late for me now because I refused to obey,
And here am I in the eternal torment of Hell suffering night and day,
But you, each and every one of you called as Christ's disciples to be,
Please I beg of you have ears to hear and listen carefully to me,
If who are called by The Lord his good and perfect will to obey,
Obey you must but out of love for him and not by order or command,
That abundant life now and eternal life you might freely receive from his gracious hand,
So my dear friend do not hesitate...no please I beg do not delay,
Believe and wholly follow Christ as your Lord and Savior today,
So that you do not end up here in the torment of Hell like me,
Because I can sadly tell you, it is not where you want to be,
Separated from God and his son and the joys of heaven for all eternity.
{Who, (c) Harold Cameron, 2012)
To obey our LORD is better and much more important than sacrifice! "But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams." (I Samuel 15:22 NIV)
Not everyone who says they are a Christ follower truly is and many people who think that they are will be sadly mistaken on the day of our Lord’s judgment.
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7;21-23 NIV)
Examine yourself to make certain that you are in Christ and in the faith! "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test?" (II Corinthians 13:5 NIV)
Just a pilgrim serving our risen Lord!
