This Gospel: THE FOUNDATION is written by Frank J. Ovec…a man who has an associate degree in conservation management as well as some education at Ohio State University. He has also studied at Mt. Vernon Bible College. According to the author he has devoted “over 20 years of research into this book.”
That being stated, I must admit as I read his book I was at times a bit overwhelmed by the vast amount of scientific information and data that he presents in the book in regards to creation, Biblical history, the gospel and the end times. He also cites several and various Scripture references to support what he writes in his book.
In reading his book I discovered rather quickly that he does not hold to the same traditional views as many do in the evangelical camp in regards to his beliefs concerning Biblical history, the gospel as well as what is referred to as the “end times.”
The book consists of 15 chapters with the first 9 being about God’s work of creation, the days of creation, and then how each day correlates to particular Biblical historical events that have occurred (Chapters 1-8) and the things that are yet to occur (Chapter 9). For those of us who are traditional minded conservative evangelicals his exegesis of the Scriptures and interpretation of them in these chapters as well as the remaining 6 chapters will be quite different than ours. Author Ovec has obviously given a considerable amount of time and effort studying the Scriptures to come to the conclusions that he has.
As I stated earlier, much of what he writes is above my ability to grasp; however, that may have to do with the fact that I have such firm beliefs in regards to Biblical creation, historical Biblical events, the gospel and future events that my “spiritual mind” cannot properly receive or understand what he writes. I am certainly not the final authority on all things Scriptural so I am not going to state at this point in time that author Ovec is totally correct, totally incorrect or partially one or the other in regards to what he has written in his book. My thought concerning his book would be this…if you are interested in reading about the Creation, Biblical history, the gospel and future events from a very different perspective than what you are accustomed to and have some ability to grasp scientific facts then you will find this book to be a very interesting read. It will definitely hold your attention. And upon reading it you can then come to your own conclusions regarding what he writes in his book.
So, in regards to The Gospel: THE FOUNDATION I would encourage anyone who is student of the Word of God that is firmly rooted and grounded in Biblical truth and has a good grasp on the teachings of the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation to consider reading this book and checking out author Ovec’s thoughts. If you are both theologically and scientifically minded you will find the book to be an enjoyable read – whether you agree with the author or not. And you certainly won’t have to agree with all or even a part of what he has written once you have read the book; however, you at least will know where he stands in regards to the Scriptures once you have read it.
I received a complementary copy of the book from Dorrance Publishing Company for reviewing it.
