"It is but a little thing people say when they are about to do something that they should not do, for that something, is in their eyes but a little thing while to others it may be something of greater consequence. If not at that moment in time, perhaps in the future."
It's only one drag on a cigarette.
It's only one can of beer or shot of liquor.
It's only one toke on a joint.
It's only one line of coke.
It's only one hit of Heroin.
It's only one look at a pornographic picture.
It's only one game of poker.
It's but a little thing. Nothing will come of it. I can control it. I won't ever become an addict. We say these things as if we could predict or know the future, but who can truly know it? For no one but God knows what is in the heart of man as well as is in his future. But we know not of where we err and with what magnitude we err when we dabble in the so called "little things" of life.
Ah, but see it is only a little spark that sets ablaze a whole world of fire and it is only a little thing that can lead to a whole lifetime of heartache and ruin for you as well as for your loved ones.
Is it worth taking the risk?
Can you or your loved ones afford the full fare that it will cost if that "little thing" you are only trying out turns into a a big thing and becomes a full blown addiction?
Oh sinful, foolish and prideful man. If you have ears to hear, hear and understand. Avoid the "little things" of life that leads to addiction and destruction. Flee those who tempt you with their seductive words promising you much but only delivering you little...and possibly in the end a dreadful disease, time in prison or death. And think not of them as your friend for they will soon be gone when your money is gone or you are sick and can no longer afford their sinful pleasure or are in jail.
They will not write you, they will not visit you and they will not accept your collect calla as they would a friend for you are not their friend. You are nothing more than just another "sucker" to them that they have hooked with their promise of much with their poison and in the end delivering so very little.
So, do flee from the "little things." Avoid them as you would the plague or death as if you are not careful, by your prideful thinking you just might end up diseased and dying only to face a far worse fate still and that is the terrible and fearful judgment of God.
If it is something good and pleasurable you fancy and desire...then seek the Lord while he may be found for you can taste and see that the Lord is good. If you spend but just a little time truly getting to know him and his saving grace and irresistable love you will no more want to dabble in those sinful and worldly "little things" than you would want to spend all of your eternity with the Devil in Hell.
So remember my friend, you may think it is but just a little thing but in reality it is not!
Amazed by his grace,
Harold
